Hi everyone, lately we've been expiriencing low ambient temperatures in our packaging area, the filler have been receiving the beer at approximately 32°F (normally is received at 36°F), and the TPO is sometimes very high and variable, we're seeing a abnormal behavior of the foam after de jetting. So I know the viscosity of the beer can be affected by the temperature, but this temperature can it impact that much?

Our lager beer density is 1.0087

    Appreciating your knowledge, greetings

You didn't mention the manufacturer of your filler, but that aside, here are some thoughts. If you are getting variable TPOs it may be that the beer supply system is not properly purged prior to beginning the filling process. Filling at 32F shouldn't be an issue as we have filled at even cooler temps. Important to ensure there is a constant pressure on the beer tank supplying the filler. The beer pump may also be a a source of air. We are hard piped from the discharge of the beer pump to the filler in an effort to minimize the use of hoses which can also problematic. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, are you saying that DO levels of the beer in the bite tank is consistent? If not, can you tell us a little more about your DO levels pre-packaging?

    Thanks!

Colder beer than normal will affect how the beer foams up after snifting the package, maybe not foaming up the headspace all the way and displacing air between the crowner or seamer.  If you can't control the temperature at the brite tanks, try running a lower bowl pressure or a higher bowl level to increase the filling turbulence to get better foaming.  We found that running a little higher brite temperature gave us better DO's in the package.

Dovetailing off of Linus, I want to highlight that some can fillers have a setting that forces foaming to occur at the end of filling to force out any leftover air.
