We are looking for some advice on what coating to use on our ceiling in the brewhouse. I found an article from the 1970's on the subject that states the following:
Walls and ceilings may have four substrates - plaster, brick, concrete block, and insulation. There is a preliminary step to employ with concrete block and insulation. Specify a good quality, low shrinkage, non-starch containing block filler. No "mud cracking" is to be permitted. Now, for all four substrates, specify a 2.5 to 5 mil thick, flat, titanium pigmented polyamide/epoxy primer, followed by a 6-8 mil, high gloss, dense polyamide or polyester/epoxy finish coat - OR - install as both primer and finish, one coat of a 5 mil, semigloss, water based, polyamide/epoxy.
From "Modern Surface Coatings in the Modern Brewery" by Greg S. Neidt, MBAA Technical Quarterly, Vol. 15, No. 4, 1978
I'm hoping to get a fresher bit of advice on the matter, as I'm unsure if much has changed since the 70's, but I can imagine that some of the coatings they were using back then have had their environmental challenges since then?
