Greetings All,
The Spring meeting of your Board of Governors was held on May 23rd. For more details, you can view the slide deck of our agenda here. After the usual meeting formalities, our first order of business was the presentation of the 2023-2024 slate of officer nominations. They are:
Lauren Torres of Bell's Brewery for President, Molly Browning of Lallemand Brewing for 1st Vice President, Brian Faivre of New Realm Brewing for 2nd Vice President, Marcus Powers of Zipline Brewing Co for Treasurer, and (District Northern Illinois' very own) Doug Wilson of Hopsteiner for Past President.
I'll formally present the slate at our summer social meeting, and unless there are objections then I will vote to approve the slate at the BOG's next meeting in September.
Treasurer's report was next and it was similar to the last few in that there are challenges that we face in our post-pandemic situation, but your organization remains on very solid financial footing. As I have also posted in the last several of these updates, membership is the driving force behind our success. Renew your membership, recruit your colleagues, and encourage them to renew and recruit. There's a reward for you if you do: the Membership Renewal Program can get you and your new members discounts on your dues.
The annual Master Brewers Conference this year is Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8 at the Westin Hotel in Seattle. I'm looking forward to it as I know the Technical Committee has been working hard to put together a great program. Hopefully you can make plans to attend, registration opens in just a few days.
Lastly, the District Health Task Force provided an update. As of our meeting, 20 districts have approved the new bylaws with just three left sorting out some legal and local details. The task force has created and presented several new resources to help local district leadership and they continue to develop more.
