  • 1.  Sourcing LYSF Pump Seals

    Posted 12-06-2023 15:21

    Hello,

We have an NFE brew house that came with LYSF brand centrifugal pumps, and I cannot seem to find any online or get ahold of anyone direct from the manufacturer.

We have the SFB5-AA centrifugal pump, if anyone knows where to source replacement seals for this pump I would greatly appreciate the help.

    Cheers!

Hello Chris, I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is why so many US brewers will warn of the problems when sourcing any equipment from China. I've seen Chinese stainless rust in less than 6 months of use, and OEM and aftermarket parts are virtually impossible to find. I know of more than 4 breweries who bought brewhouses manufactured in China and immediately replaced all pumps, motors, and any pneumatic or electronic valves with US sourced stock before ever brewing on the systems.

Brewerygaskets.com might be able to help you source seals for that pump, but before going that route, I would reach out to NFE to see if they can get them direct from LYSE to make sure you don't get the wrong thing. About 3 years ago there was a very similar thread on probrewer discussions about the same brewhouse manufacturer and trying to source the same pump seals. Here is a link to that discussion which has some possible solutions as well: Chinese Replacment Parts - ProBrewer Discussion Board

Hopefully you can find what you need using one of these options.

Thanks for the leads, reached out to the folks at Bespoke Brewing Solutions a couple days ago and they got back to me.

Just asking the obvious here, but did you try calling and emailing the contact shown in the attached?

I know you are dealing with an existing problem, but to echo Brett Kintzer's thoughts, equipment buyers should dig into these sorts of details before ordering anything from overseas, including Europe.  Not all imports have squat for support after the export sale occurs.

    Cheers, Ashton

    Hey Ashton,

I did reach out directly to them and have not heard anything back. Luckily the people at Bespoke are helping me out with this. Thanks!
