Meeting Minutes:
 

1. Introduction and Welcome:
 

• The meeting was called to order at at approximately 5:00 PM by President, Bob Griesedieck.
• Bob welcomed everyone and mentioned that officer nominations would be a part of the meeting.
• Secretary Kris Scholl read previous meeting minutes.  Minutes approved.
   

2. Upcoming Guest Presenters at October 12th Meeting:
 

• Micah Cawley from John Haas to discuss the 2023 crop update, including new sustainable hop varieties and a sampling of fresh bale cuts.
• Shane McNamara from AB InBev to talk about beer competitions and the judging process.
   

3. Upcoming Events:
 

• November 13th: Meeting at Alpha Brewing with hops from Yakima Chief, using the veterans blend for a charitable cause, Homes For Our Troops.
• January 18th and 19th: Meeting at AB, with a technical meeting the next day, featuring multiple presenters and sponsors.
• February: Planning a social event with STL Beer.
• March: Another shop talk.
• Working on event with Pink Boots to support women in the brewing industry.
• Monthly meetings and discussions to keep members engaged.
   

4. Officer Elections:

5. Membership Report:
 

• Bob highlighted the increase in new members, including those from outside the St. Louis area.
• Encouraged members to get involved in committees or leadership roles.
   

6. Scholarship Report:
 

• Scholarships are available for short courses through Master Brewers.
• Low applicant numbers were mentioned, and members were encouraged to apply.
   

7. Thanking Sponsors:
 

• Thanks were given to sponsors: Buehler Group, Country Malt, and Wellspent Brewery.
   

8. New Business:
 

• Discussion on approaching new members, including those from outside the St. Louis area, for potential leadership roles.
   

9. Adjournment:
 

• The motion was made by Steve Huffman and 2nd by Tom Zimmerman adjourned at 5:22 PM by a unanimous vote.
