    Hi Everyone,

We have a 5BBL yeast tank on load cells that we use to harvest and pitch our house strain. I was using a small peristaltic pump to keep the yeast homogenized but the rubber tube inside would continually break after extended use. I'm looking for a more robust solution. Watson Marlow recommended their Certa line of sine pumps for the application and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them or has experience with another option.

    Thanks,

    Thomas

Try using a small double diaphragm air operated pump.

Sine pumps are really snazzy, very gentle, hygienic, and more costly than most other types.  They do work very well for high viscosity and high solids fluids, and can even pump whole fruits without damage.  Best to install with a hygienic, seat valve, like Tuchenhagen Q valves, for pressure relief when deadheaded (top port connects to pump suction and pump outlet flows through bottom port).  Hose pumps are also a good fit for your application as are axial flow mixers, but those are also pretty spendy.  A small axial flow mixer with a tri-clamp mounting ferrule is another option to consider.

    Cheers,
    Ashton

Thank you both for the info. We were using a hose peristaltic pump from WM and the hose kept splitting after a bit of use.
