    Job Summary

    As the Brewery Packaging Technology Course Director, you'll provide the leadership, technical knowledge, and experience to help mold the next generation of brewing technicians. The goal of this course is to connect Master Brewers students with industry experts in a manner that is engaging, respectful of diverse student needs and backgrounds and meets the learning objectives.

    The course director organizes and directs 6 weeks of virtual content as well as one week of in-person instruction, tours, and demonstrations. The tasks within this role include the following:

    • Identify course content in line with industry standards and trends.
    • Recruit a group of instructors (SMEs) that contribute content from their unique area of expertise.
    • Collaborate with an instructional designer to teach content in an engaging and effective manner.
    • Teach & lead student discussion on any of the topics if an instructor is not able to attend.
    • Identify real-world scenarios commonly experienced in the brewing industry and create multiple case studies or projects for students to investigate and present on solutions.
    • Interact with students to connect students with SMEs, networking contacts, and resources to help them along their professional path.​

    Qualifications

    The Ideal Candidate will hold the following attributes and qualifications; and fulfill the associated requirements:

    Industry and Technical Knowledge and Experience

    • Having a deep understanding of brewery packaging operations and management, including but not limited to such topics as bottling, canning, and kegging operations, glass bottle and aluminum can manufacturing, cleaning and sanitation, pasteurizing, line layout, container and product movement, automation and technology, packaging quality assurance, and warehouse operations.
    • Multiple years of experience working in beverage packaging and in brewery packaging, in varied roles.
    • Must be a subject matter expert in a variety of the topics associated with the course​​, with a willingness and ability to present a topic should the designated presenter be unable to attend.
    • Maintain a deep accessible network of other industry experts with the ability to recruit them to serve as course instructors (SMEs).

    Technology and Educational Development and Delivery

    • Proficient with basic instructional tools and technology (Zoom, PowerPoint, etc.) with a willingness to explore and learn tools.


    Personal Attributes

    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a timely fashion, using the necessary detail, to address the intended goals.
    • A good people manger, ability to coordinate subject matter experts (instructors) as they design engaging and relevant learning experiences.
    • Adept at collaboration, working closely with the course instructional designer and program manager to provide robust learning opportunities and networking experiences.
    • ​Excellent time management and organizational skills.


    Additional Requirements

    • Membership is in good standing with the Master Brewers Association of the Americas.
    • Strict adherence to Master Brewers Code of Conduct.
    • Must be available for course planning, live virtual sessions, and onsite for the full duration of the in-person course.
