We opted for this in our new production space and we absolutely love it. Everyone I have showed it to has also been impressed. We have not had one single issue so far and we are 18 months in. Just make sure to hire a good installer, but that goes for any floor drain install.

We installed slot drains in our cellar expansion and there are pros and cons.

Pros: aesthetically pleasing, stay clean longer, excellent water flow, simple solids catch at main drain point.

The primary con is that yeast and hop material does not drain well at all and will quickly back up the drain. We aggressively sidestream in our cellar and our brewhouse but do not have foam traps on our FVs. Normal fermenter blow off will back the drains up and require an excess of water to wash down the floors and drains. Granted no drain is perfect for this application, but I would say slot drains are best suited for a plant where high strength waste rarely hits the floor.

We have a slot drain in our brewhouse.  We've had it for 10 years now.  Its been a fool proof drain for us.   A wheel from our pump cart or a hand truck can slip into the slot.  Its only a minor annoyance when it happens tho, but the covered drains never have this issue.

Consider using FRP covers  rather than metal. It will last longer and stands up to chemicals better. Sheet stock metal covers will deform over time and as the edges bend upward, they become a trip hazard. This is also a hazard for people who are taking a tour of your brewery.

Next step. Always cut a small square off the end of the covers. When you need to drain something, simply pull the small square out and insert the hose being used for draining directly into the drain through the opening. Replace the square when finished. This keeps the cover in place so no one steps into the slot and twists an ankle or burns their foot.
    Hope this additional info helps.
    Thanks,
