Hey all. Hoping this safety community is active enough to gain some responses - been pretty quiet over the last few years.
Has anyone implemented a Visible Light Transmission limit as part of their PPE requirements? We've recently codified our eye protection policy and making eye protection mandatory in many areas of the plant. We like to offer operators the opportunity to source their own PPE but always want to put some bumpers up to ensure they select the right equipment. Pit Vipers are particularly popular and they offer a variety of lens shadings and offer VLT ratings for every pair. Some people have requested a slight tint if allowed but I don't know what VLT is too little. I am sure we could do some trial and error to find what works, but curious if someone has already looked into this.
Eye protection will primarily be used inside the building.
