in the Tech tips, the MBAA recommends the  Proximity CLS2 from Dwyer Instrument for boil-0ver safety.

We don't have this unit available in Korea (where we are located). What other units would you consider acceptable?
    Thank you

    Hi Frederic,

There are a few threads on this topic with different sensor recommendations. Try this one for example: https://community.mbaa.com/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?GroupId=37&MessageKey=58990442-67cf-4d4f-b4ff-45d667cb69db&CommunityKey=cb7fc054-5008-4b01-87f3-588d3c711e07&tab=digestviewer

You should be fine with any conductivity sensor in which you can adjust the sensitivity (change resistance) to ensure you catch foam not wort either via a selector switch or in the controls. At a previous brewery we installed an Anderson Negele NVS-345 which can be cut to length and has 3-4 sensitivity settings. On our 50bbl brewhouse at pFriem we have an Endress & Hauser unit that is about 12" long. Lastly, I am installing an IFM LMT104 in our 15bbl brewhouse but cannot comment on how well it works though it was recommended by peers. Just wanted to illustrate that there are a lot of options out there and even if you can't find one of those three in Korea I imagine your distributor can use that intel to find a suitable matching part.

Some systems will use kettle volume to control steam and cut steam at an over volume point. There was a good presentation by Goose Island on issues with that type of set up and I prefer to have the fail safe be on its own control loop.

Good luck and good on you for thinking about this key safety item!
