Bad Weather Brewing

At 5:15 pm, President, Eric Harper called the meeting to order.

• New members and guests and were asked to stand up and introduce themselves.
  • New members/guests introduced themselves.
• Meeting hosts, Bad Weather Brewing, were thanked.

Secretary, Juno Choi, reported the past minutes from the September meeting at Ecolab.

Treasurer, Matt Hall, read the treasurer’s report.

• Total income of $28,780.73 was reported. Total expenses of $7,965.82 was reported but did not include the course scholarship reimbursements. Total balance of $50,759.63 as of 10/31/18.

Eric asked members if there were any condolences to report. None were reported.

Committee Reports moved to after the election.

On to Old Business-

• The September meeting was held at Ecolab R&D. All of the funds raised at that meeting went into our scholarship fund.
• Due to the hurricane, our original presenter had to cancel but Mike Mizorko led a group discussion on Brut IPA.

On to New Business-

• The election for Secretary Officer started and ballots were handed out.
• Eric explained how each officer position works.
• Each candidate was asked to give a stump speech.
• 3 candidates were on the ballot.
  • Frank Kusaba, Director of Brewery Operations at Earth Rider Brewery.
  • Rich O'Reskie, OXXION Consulting.
  • Riley Seitz, QAQC Manager at Surly Brewing.
• Voting ensued and ballots collected.

Committee Reports

• No BOG report as Mike Miziorko was not in attendance and no BOG meeting took place since last district meeting.
• No Golf report as Jeff Malek was not in attendance.
• Benson Jahnke gas the membership report.
  • Surge in membership. 13 new members since last district meeting.
  • Reminder to renew memberships if your membership has recently expired.
  • Our local district has 227 members, ranks us 10^th out of 27 districts.
• Tyrone gave the scholarship report.
  • Eric Harper was thanked for his service as president and to the scholarship committee.
  • 6 scholarships were given away in 2018.
  • Major scholarship winners were asked questions about their experiences.
    • Riley Seitz attended the Brewing Summit
    • Zack Ward, Juan Medina attended the Brewing & Malting Science Course.
    • Jordan Nordby attended the Brewery Engineering and Utilities Course.
  • Tyrone asked for two volunteers to join the scholarship committee.

Jace announced that Riley Seitz was elected to the office position of Secretary.
