Technical Presentation - Dank Dive: Using Sensory Tools to Further Define the Term “Dank” by Tiffany Pitra of Yakima Chief Hops
The term “dank” is often used by brewers to describe hop and beer aroma. However, when asked to further define “dank,” diverse and unclear responses create confusion around panelist training and data analysis. Join us for an interactive workshop and assess hop samples to better define this illusive descriptor.
Tiff Pitra holds a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa, and in 2014 she completed the UC Davis Applied Sensory and Consumer Science Certificate Program. She actively serves on the ASBC Sensory Subcommittee (previously served as Chair), helping validate sensory methods and hosting workshops at annual meetings. At Yakima Chief Hops, she is fortunate to align her professional goals with her interests in hop quality and sensory education.
In addition, this meeting is our annual scholarship fundraiser. Please reach out to one of your district officers if you have an item that you or your company would be willing to donate. We are still looking for items that appeal to individuals as well as companies. Anyone with a coffee hook up? Whiskey? Bowling alley? You get the gist. Anything you feel someone in the brewing industry would bid on.
Meeting fees: $40 for members and $45 for non-members.
