A comparative study on the modern and traditional floor malting of Hana barley.
In 2024 we embarked on the “world’s first malting collab” where Crisp’s Hana barley was sent to California for malting. What started as a strengthening of bonds between floor maltsters evolved into a fascinating study into the impact that the malthouse has on malting and flavour character including a metabolomics study with UC Davis. In this presentation we will review the project and compare malting and beer flavour data to attempt to answer the question; does malthouse “terroir” have an impact on beer flavour?
Event will begin at 5pm for Happy Hour,with facility tours happening in groups, followed by our technical presentation and community announcements from 6:30pm-8pm
