Bio: Fred studied Brewing and Malting at DOEMENS Brewing Academy and received his Brew- Maltmaster degree in 1976. In 1985 he immigrated to the USA to start with Kirby Nelson Capital Brewery in Middleton, WI, one of the first Craft breweries in the USA. Fred also was Technical Director/ Brewmaster for Frankenmuth Brewery in Frankenmuth, MI before joining Pabst brewing Co Corporate office. There he was responsible for Special Projects and also responsible for overseeing the China Operations. In 2011 Fred joined KRONES Inc. in Milwaukee, WI as Director Brewing and Process Technology. Topic: Dan's presentation will be a sixty-minute crash course on all things to consider when designing/installing your glycol system and what pitfalls to avoid . Dan will cover some guidelines to make your glycol piping installation correct from the beginning.
Bio: Dan Strömberg is the Market Segment Manager for Cooling & Refrigeration and Business Development Manager for Georg Fischer Piping USA. His focus, while working in the Food & Beverage, Air-condition and Data Center market is to implement energy efficient and maintenance free plastic piping solutions for glycol and chilled water systems. After almost 30 years in the plastic piping industry in both Europe and America he has become an expert on piping solutions for the Industry. Dan has worked closely with the brewery market in the USA since 2005 and he definitely knows the glycol piping system for breweries and the brewery process.
Dan has helped Breweries like Sierra Nevada, Dog Fish Head, Deschutes and several hundred other breweries with their glycol piping solution. He is also teaching about glycol piping on the Master Brewers Brewery Engineering and Utilities course.
Dan is very passionate about craft beer and he is also building a 1bbl pilot brewery in GF Piping systems headquarter in Irvine CA.
Dan graduated as an Electronics Engineer in Halmstad Sweden 1988.
Topic: Jack's presentation will cover a complete overview of valve systems and applications specifically for breweries. The presentation will include an overview of valve types, valve design and options, specific brewery valve application, valve feedback options, valve approvals, seal types and maintenance. There will be some cutaway models from different manufacturers, for the audience to view the different types and options.
Bio: Jack Jordan has been involved in designing and implementing brewery cold block valving systems for the past 35 years. Presently he is a Vice President and General Manager of the brewery engineering division of Statco-DSI Process Systems and previously he managed the Norit Process Technology division in North America, which included Sudmo Valves, Haffmans CO2 recovery & measurement systems and Beer Membrane Filtration division. He was also President of Tuchenhagen for 13 years so has been involved in valve applications and valve selection for most of his career.
Topic: Bob's presentation will focus on which pumps are chosen for specific applications in the brewing industry and will give the audience a good idea of what product characteristics should be identified, in order to choose the correct style of pump for a specific application.
Bio: Bob Wells has been with Fristam Pumps USA for 30 years, mostly in various sales functions. Prior to his career with Fristam he spent 6 years with Tri-Clover, as an Applications Engineer for 4 years; and, a District Sales Manager for 2 years. He is a member of the MBAA District Office in Milwaukee. He has worked with Fristam’s Applications Engineering Department to give lead the last two MBAA training sessions in St. Paul, MN.

Bio: Stephen Carter is a 39 year veteran of the automation industry and has been involved in the development and upgrade of brewing automation systems for more than 22 years. In addition to brewing applications Stephen has applied automated controls to hundreds of machinery and automation systems both nationally and internationally and has designed and implemented machinery and control systems across diverse industries including Semiconductor, Food, Beverage, Brewing, Packaging, Plastics, Marine, Web, Paper, Transportation, and Pharmaceutical systems.
Topic: Damon's presentation has been developed to help brewery facilities maintenance personnel better understand the operation and function of glycol chiller systems. His presentation will cover the following major sections, mechanics of a chiller system, major systems components, overview of a preventive maintenance program, and an outline of process piping recommendations.
Bio: Damon joined the team at Pro Refrigeration in 2005, after spending more than a decade working as a Service Technician and in Sales for a refrigeration contractor. In 2016 Damon was promoted to Chief Revenue Officer overseeing Pro Refrigeration's Product Management, Field Service, Technical Support and Sales Team. Damon has worked with hundreds of breweries on system design for; new construction, expansion, and relocation. A native of Idaho, Damon works out of Pro Refrigeration's Headquarters in Auburn, WA where he lives with his wife, Breze, and 3 children. In the summer of 2013, Pro Refrigeration opened their East Coast Production Facility in Mocksville, NC.
