MBAA District Carolinas Summer Meeting at Wicked Weed Brewing's Funk House

Hello everyone,

District Carolinas would like to announce our summer meeting. The meeting will be held at Wicked Weed Brewing's Funk House, its' new sour facility and office headquarters. We will have 5-6 speakers, breakfast, lunch, time to network, and tours of the facility. Topics range from enzymes to dry-hopping to wild fermentations. Below is the base schedule.  Registration for MBAA members will be $30 and $45 for non-members which can be accessed from in a link on the side bar. There will be beer provided but bringing your own beer is encouraged as well.

Friday
4:00pm - White Labs Asheville Tours - Meet at 172 S Charlotte St, Asheville, NC 28801. We will be doing tours in small groups.
6:30pm - Informal Social Hour at Highland Brewing Company - Meet at Highland Brewing Company starting at 6:30pm. We are meeting at the upstairs bar, look for signage. Address for Highland is 12 Old Charlotte Hwy, Asheville, NC 28803.

Saturday
9:00 am - District Carolina Members General Meeting
9:30 am - "Foam Creation and Collapse" - Todd Isbell, Brewmaster at Liberty Brewery & Grill 
10:30 am - "Process Control Through Enzyme Understanding" - Mark Sammartino, Retired Brewmaster and Raw Materials Director from Anheuser Busch and a former MBAA National Technical Director
11:30 am - "Brewing with Wild Yeast and Bacteria" - Chris White, PhD., President and CEO of White Labs Inc.
12:30 pm - Lunch and Facility Tours
2:00 pm - "Clarification with Beer and Kettle Finings" - Jamie Carmichael, Technical Brewer at Murphy & Son
3:00 pm - "Dry Hopping vs. Distilled Oil Additions" - Brett Taubman, PhD, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Appalachian State University
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm - Networking Time

There will also be transportation downtown after the meeting is complete during networking time.

Registration will be capped at 70 people, so please register early.

For those of you who need a hotel:
Exit 40 on I-26, which is close to the meeting location, has multiple hotels for anyone. We also have Uber and Lyft in Asheville which makes the hotels in Asheville proper a little more accessible if you would like to be closer to the city.
